Myocardial infarction during giant cell arteritis: A cohort study

چکیده

Background Cardiovascular risk is increased in giant cell arteritis (GCA). We aimed to characterize myocardial infarction (MI) a GCA cohort, and compare the non-GCA population affected by MI. Methods In patients with biopsy-proven diagnosis of between 1 January 2001 31 December 2016 Côte D'Or (France), we identified MI crossing data from territorial registry (Observatoire des Infarctus de d'Or) database. Five controls (non-GCA + MI) were paired one case (GCA after matching for age, sex, cardiovascular factors prior disease. characterized as type (T1MI), resulting thrombus formation due atherothrombotic disease, or 2 (T2MI), supply/demand mismatch. GCA-related was defined occurring within 3 months flare (before after). Results Among 251 patients, 13 cases 65 controls. 6/13 cases, accounting 2.4% (6/251) our cohort. T2MI more frequently than GCA-unrelated (80% vs. 16.7%, p = 0.080), only triggering factor 75% T2MI. T1MI occurred who had received higher cumulative dose prednisone (p 0.032). not associated poorer one-year survival. Conclusions are mainly probably caused systemic inflammation rather coronaritis. predominantly coronary artery

Giant Cell Arteritis Presenting as Choroidal Infarction

Background. Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a systemic granulomatous vasculitis that affects large- and medium-sized arteries of the head and neck. Ocular manifestations of GCA usually are anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (AION) or retinal vessel occlusion. Case Report. We report an interesting case of a 70-year-old man who presented with sudden vision loss and choroidal infarction in his left...

Endocrinol Metab Int J 2017, 4(6): 00104 Abstract We report a rare case of a 62-year-old woman admitted for investigation of unexplained inflammatory syndrome. Her atypical clinical presentation included a lack of headache and systemic signs. Computed tomography scan showed thoracic, abdominal aortitis and celiac trunk inflammation. A temporal artery biopsy was consistent with giant cell arteri...
